Obey God and Don't Forget Your Purse Saturday was CHEAP day at Ranger Stadium, $4 tickets and $4 parking. It was the 'first' home game/last exhibition game so off we went to Texas! Jon & Jennifer went along with us to their 'first' Ranger game and it was our 'first' road trip together. The weather was really fabulous (for the 'first' time in a looonnng while) and the crowd was small. We left 'first' thing in the morning so we could swing by Gracie's favorite store - Sam Moon. It was my 'first' time to go there without Gracie (yes I felt guilty) and Jennifer's 'first' experience there as well! It was a bit frustrating however, because the men only gave us 45 minutes. If you've ever been to Sam Moon, you know what I mean, it is an impossibility to see everything in 45 minutes. Here they are at 'first' base. The man refuses to give me a 'normal' face! So, just for that, I'm posting this for all the world to see! After the game we drove back home using a different route. They took us through McKinney, TX which of course was our 'first' time there. We drove around the town a little and stopped at the quaint old downtown square, duly restored to a former glamour. It reminds me of a mix between Eureka Springs and Carmel. There were all types of quaint and bizarre stores in which to browse! (And samples to taste.) Yes, a definite "pose" but at least he wasn't making a face right? (Notice Jenn's FABULOUS new purse. From Sam Moon and her 'first' time to carry it.) Outside an old-time candy store with quite a few unusual items. I would have purchased these bacon items for Pam but at $6 each - I also found Bacon Band-Aids and Dental Floss. Eww. As you can tell from the pictures we took, we were truly kids in a candy store. We strolled around the square and did a little window shopping. This is my new dream bedroom. Pardon the glare and reflection, this store was (sadly in my opinion) closed for the day. Judging by the price tags visible through the window, it will remain a dream. This lovely vehicle was parked outside Emilia's Italian restaurant. There were lovely little sidewalk cafes on every street and the aromas pouring out from them were heavenly. We opted for Mexican food. Jenn opted for "puffy tacos". "First" bite. And our waiter, Jason. We asked him to take our photo. He said it was his 'first' time to take a customer's photo and seemed - oddly enough - to be quite anxious to accommodate. Then he wanted me to take his photo with a lot of money so his friends would think he was rich. This post would not be complete without mentioning the Giant Cheeto. Apparently everything in Texas IS bigger, even Cheetos. This little package single-handedly provided us with at least two hour's worth of giggles and conversation. Quite a bargain at 59 cents. We had a lovely day full of firsts! We're planning another group ballgame trip and anyone that would like to go is welcome. Just let me know!
